Charlie Denman, who does RaceRunning with Chamwell Centre, training at the Blackbridge Jubilee Athletics Track, Podsmead, with RaceRunning Dragons (Gloucester) has had another fantastic year.
- July 2018: Competing in Yate, Charlie shaved a massive 8 seconds off her previous 400m personal best – perfect preparation for her forthcoming competition at the Cerebral Palsy World Games in Barcelona.
- August 2018: Charlie travelled to Barcelona, for the CP World Games, representing England in the RaceRunning. Against stiff international competition, she returned home to Gloucestershire as a World Champion RaceRunner – with a haul of 2 bronze medals, 1 silver and 1 gold medal. Such a fantastic achievement – all the hard work and training paying off.
- September 2018: Charlie took part in the National Cerebral Palsy Sport Series at Doncaster – this time achieving 4 gold medals!
- November 2018: Just when we thought Charlie had achieved all her goals this year, she was nominated as Disability Sports Performer of the Year at the Gloucestershire Sports Awards – and won! The evening ended with a presentation for Gloucestershire Sports Personality of Year……Charlie came away with this award too! What an inspirational young lady!
Charlie’s mum, Amy commented: “Thank you so much Chamwell Centre for all your support – she wouldn’t be competing without all your help, support and knowledge – not mention the loan of the RaceRunning bike! You have literally changed Charlie’s life. To all who have supported Charlie, THANK YOU – especially her trainer Bob Purcell. ”
Congratulations to Charlie and all her family – what an inspirational year for you all!
