The Chamwell Centre is Gloucestershire’s visionary, unique and only facility of its kind in the county that aims to transform the lives and wellbeing of children, young people and adults with disability.
Chamwell’s Time to Grow Appeal has been launched today with a bid to raise 250,000 pounds by the end of the year.
The Chamwell Centre was made possible thanks to the generous support of individual donors, trusts and foundations, businesses and the local community who raised a staggering 5.1 million pounds todevelop the Centre and facilities. Our ‘state-of-art’ equipment, including one of the country’s largest hydrotherapy pools, other exciting sports, social facilities and community café are accessible to everyone.
Chamwell opened its doors in June 2021 and was officially launched in January this year. With the Centre fully open and coming alive, now is the time to grow!
Time to Grow appeal donations will enable the charity to continue to deliver its vision which is for everyone, no matter their ability, to access sport, leisure activities, specialist therapies, clubs and social opportunities, all in the spirit of friendship and equity.
The specialist nature of our facilities and services means our running costs are in excess of half a million pounds each year and yet we receive no statutory funding.
Every donation will help us reach our goal:
· £15 monthly donation would cover the cost of one group hydrotherapy session
· £20 monthly donation would contribute to the cost of a child and their carer enjoying a weekly swim in our pool for a month
· £30 monthly donation would cover the cost of attending a term’s sporting activities such as race running or boccia
· £50 monthly donation would cover the cost of one hydrotherapy session for a child with a physical disability
Dr Marie Owen, President said: “Like most charities, the Chamwell Centre has been affected by COVID-19 and more recently the rise in costs, such as utilities, hits us hard as it does everyone. Yet, at a time when so many families are needing Chamwell’s support, our aim is not to step back, but now is the time to grow.”
